Multi Modal Logistics Park, Bihta, Patna, Bihar
Bihar has been the second fastest growing economy in India in the last 5 years. At 11.03% GDP growth rate, Bihar is only marginally behind Gujarat whose GDP grew by 11.05%. This is surely going to make heads turn across India. The contribution of Manufacturing and Agriculture to this growth has, however, not been too encouraging. The growth has essentially come from Services and Tertiary Sectors. However, the State is completely devoid of essential logistics infrastructure and reliable service network.
In order to fill this gap PLIPL acquired a closed sugar factory from Government of Bihar (GoB) through open auction at a place called Bihta located at the outskirts of the capital city of Patna to set up a Logistics cum Industrial Park. The project is being undertaken through Pristine Magadh Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd. (PMIPL), a subsidiary Company of Pristine Logistics & Infraprojects Pvt Ltd (PLIPL). The project contains a Rail Linked Multi modal Logistics Park (Under Private Freight Terminal Policy of Ministry of Railway) along with Industrial Park housing medium and small scale industrial establishments. The facility is expected to commence operations in 2013.
Bihta and adjoining areas is witnessing rapid industrial growth. This would lead to increase in movement of cargo / raw material / finished products from and into Bihar. Agricultural production, along with floriculture and horticulture, is set to grow at a higher trajectory and there would be requirement of efficient storage and services for transportation of agri-produce in raw, semi finished and fully processed forms. With growth in per capita income, Bihar will consume more – something that shall be pronounced in the state capital. The trend over the last couple of years clearly indicates that Bihar is consuming more and more products such as construction material, food, white goods, etc.
